Retired Green Beret. Podcast host. National security commentator. The guy who looks into the camera and tells you what the rest of the media won\u2019t. Right now he is on X asking strangers to send him money so he can fight a $5.3 million lawsuit he claims is punishment for his opinions.<\/p>\n<p>Before anyone sends him another dollar, he needs to explain the last pile of money that was raised under his name.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022 a charity called Global Villages of Hope took in $378,889. Its stated mission was clear and emotional: humanitarian aid and \u201csafe havens\u201d for orphans, displaced children, widows, and mothers in war zones. The public pitch was that they were building villages for Ukrainian refugees. Tardio is listed as the secretary of that charity. His business partner Toby Thomas is the president. The two of them also run Battle Springs Ranch, a for-profit tactical training facility in Oklahoma.<\/p>\n<p>According to the charity\u2019s own IRS Form 990s, not one dollar of that money went to an orphan or a widow.<\/p>\n<p>There is no documented proof of any food, medical care, shelter, education, or direct assistance reaching the people the donors were told they were helping. None. Not a single line item. Not a single receipt. Not a single orphan. Full stop.<\/p>\n<h2>Where the Money Actually Went<\/h2>\n<p>Global Villages of Hope (EIN 88-1626851) raised $378,889 in 2022 \u2014 almost all of it from one individual donor whose name is redacted on the public filing. In 2023 and 2024 the charity reported zero new revenue. By the end of 2024 the account was down to $711.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the breakdown of how the money was spent:<\/p>\n<p>In 2022 the group spent $196,205. The biggest expense was travel: $88,643. Next came \u201cother \/ outside services\u201d at $59,738 with no further explanation. Management fees took $30,655. The rest went to office expenses, equipment rental, advertising, occupancy, and legal fees. Nothing for orphans. Nothing for widows. Nothing for displaced children.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023 the charity spent $103,575. Of that, $100,000 left in a single grant. The rest was miscellaneous.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024 it spent $78,398. Almost every dollar of that \u2014 $78,308 \u2014 was booked to a single line that says only \u201cEQUIP &#038; MAINT.\u201d Equipment and maintenance is not assistance to orphans and widows. Full stop. The account was drained to $711.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly $379,000 came in. Nearly $378,000 went out. Across three years of tax returns there is zero documented evidence that any of it reached the people the charity was created to help.<\/p>\n<p>Tardio and Thomas signed those returns. They own what the numbers say.<\/p>\n<h2>The $100,000 Grant and the Treasurer Who Disappeared<\/h2>\n<p>The one large grant the charity made is the second major problem.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023 Global Villages of Hope sent $100,000 to the Marine Reconnaissance Foundation in Hawaii. The purpose listed on the tax return is two words: \u201cRECON SUPPORT.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Marine Reconnaissance Foundation is a legitimate veterans charity. That is not the issue.<\/p>\n<p>The issue is who was sitting on both sides of the deal.<\/p>\n<p>Bonnie McErlane served as treasurer of Global Villages of Hope from 2022 through 2024. At the same time she was listed on the Marine Reconnaissance Foundation\u2019s own tax returns as a board member and \u201cfundraising lead\u201d for 2020, 2021, and 2022. She does not appear on the Marine Recon Foundation\u2019s 2023 or 2024 returns. The $100,000 grant was made in 2023. Shortly after the money moved, her name was gone from the receiving organization\u2019s filings.<\/p>\n<p>So the charity\u2019s largest single act of giving went to an organization where its own treasurer held a leadership role. Global Villages of Hope did not disclose that relationship. On its 2023 return it answered \u201cNo\u201d to the related-party questions on Schedule L. It claimed it maintains a conflict-of-interest policy that requires officers to disclose potential conflicts. Then it moved six figures to its treasurer\u2019s other organization and said nothing on the form.<\/p>\n<p>That is not a technicality. Related-party transactions of this size are required to be disclosed. Failing to do so is a serious reporting failure. Whether anyone received a corresponding payment or benefit is a question that deserves a real answer. The timing of McErlane\u2019s disappearance from the Marine Recon board right after the grant is another question that has not been answered.<\/p>\n<p>A grant labeled \u201crecon support\u201d to a Marine recon charity is also a complete departure from a mission about Ukrainian orphans and widows. The donors were sold one story. The money went somewhere else.<\/p>\n<h2>The $70,000 Question<\/h2>\n<p>While this sits unexplained, Tardio has been publicly fundraising for legal fees. In June 2026 he posted that he had already spent $70,000 on attorneys for the civil lawsuit and a separate criminal matter out of Portland. He said he had done this even with a pro bono attorney from the Liberty Legal Foundation. He still asked the public for more money. His stated goal was to raise at least $100,000.<\/p>\n<p>The funding link he provided is a PayPal donation button. Not GiveSendGo. Not GoFundMe. There is no public thermometer, no running total, and no way for donors to see how much has actually been raised. On platforms that show the numbers, the public can verify the claim. On a private PayPal link, they cannot. We are asked to take his word that the figure is $70,000 while the same man continues to solicit more. It is entirely possible he has raised significantly more than he is stating. There is no public record either way. We have reached out to PayPal for comment.<\/p>\n<p>If a nonprofit legal organization is already handling the case for free, where did the $70,000 go? Who received it? What exactly was it spent on? And how much has actually been collected through a non-transparent PayPal link while he continues to ask for help? Tardio has not produced a public accounting. He is asking people to trust him with more money while the last large sum raised under his name remains completely unaccounted for in terms of the purpose donors were sold.<\/p>\n<h2>The Pattern<\/h2>\n<p>Global Villages of Hope claims Oklahoma as its legal domicile and solicits donations online. It does not appear in the Oklahoma Secretary of State\u2019s business-entity registry or its charitable-organizations registry. Its website is a placeholder. On its tax return the organization states it does not make its governing documents available to the public. The three annual returns were filed late and bunched together. Two large expense categories are left almost completely undescribed. No vendors are named. There is no public way to see whether any of the \u201coutside services,\u201d \u201cmanagement fees,\u201d or \u201cequipment and maintenance\u201d money flowed back to entities connected to the officers.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, Tardio is fundraising against a $5.3 million lawsuit that has no public complaint, no case number, and no named plaintiff in any searchable court database.<\/p>\n<p>A man who cannot show that the orphan charity he helped run ever helped an orphan is the same man who cannot produce the lawsuit he is currently raising money to fight. The pattern is the story.<\/p>\n<h2>The Record Speaks for Itself<\/h2>\n<p>Raising hundreds of thousands of dollars in the name of war orphans and then failing to show a single documented dollar of direct aid is not a paperwork error. It is a total failure of the purpose donors were sold. Moving the largest check to an organization where your own treasurer sits in a leadership role without disclosure is a conflict that should have been reported. Equipment and maintenance is not aid to orphans and widows. Full stop.<\/p>\n<p>These are not small issues. They are the kind of facts that should trigger questions from the IRS and, if the non-disclosure and use of funds do not hold up under scrutiny, from the Department of Justice.<\/p>\n<p>The tax returns are public. The numbers are clear. Not one dollar went to the orphans and widows. The largest grant went sideways to an organization tied to the charity\u2019s own treasurer. The disclosure that was required never happened. The fundraising for the lawsuit runs through a private PayPal link with no transparency. The lawsuit itself cannot be found in any public court record.<\/p>\n<p>That is the record. It does not need an invitation to be explained away. It already speaks for itself. Was it a foreign entity that injected this money into Tardio&#8217;s non profit?
